Dr Hamilton works at Sydney Eye Hospital where he trains international fellows and registrars in eye surgery. He holds an honorary academic position at the University of Sydney, is actively involved in research and has published in international journals.

Dr Hamilton completed medical school at the University of Newcastle. He undertook his ophthalmology specialist training at Sydney Eye Hospital and is a fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).

After completing his training in Sydney, he spent two years gaining further subspecialist experience at the two largest eye hospitals in the United Kingdom. At Manchester Royal Eye Hospital he completed a corneal and refractive surgery fellowship. He then completed a medical retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

As well as his clinical work in Australia, Dr Hamilton remains committed to public health and improving the quality of health globally. He holds a Master of Public Health and investigated the African HIV epidemic at the World Health Organisation in Geneva. He also previously worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in London.
